The story: a preservative called methylisothiazolinone (MI) spread rapidly through wipes, shampoos and liquid soaps, and dermatologists described the resulting rise in contact allergy as an epidemic. It is now restricted in leave-on products but still common in rinse-off ones and some wipes.
If wipes irritate your or your baby’s skin, check for MI or MIT on the pack.
