The myth: that “natural” or “botanical” means gentle. In reality, essential oils contain scent compounds like limonene and linalool, which are among the declared fragrance allergens, and oils like tea tree are well-known sensitisers.
For reactive skin, “fragranced with essential oils” can be just as triggering as synthetic fragrance.
